Price Guides for 45s and LPs:
The
Official Price Guide to Records, 16th Edition
(Official Price Guide to Records)
Some
info on why some records are worth more than others:
Most rare records are rare because that's what people are
willing to pay for them, because of the limited supply, a
lot of Rockabilly records are high priced because there were
only limited amounts pressed on small independent labels.
Doo wop records are high priced because years ago there were
a lot of Doo wop collectors, so the supply couldn't meet the
demand. Also a lot of Doo wop records were repressed, so collectors
are willing to pay more for original copies(a certain color
label would be worth more on say a blue label as opposed to
the same record on a red or green label, with blue being the
first press ect...) Also, the same record could come out on
one label then the same record could come out on a different
label and be worth less than the first label, A lot of Big
record companys would some times buy out the small label &
put it out on their label, such as Columbia/Capitol/Dot/Decca/ABC-
ect... than the value of the small label would be worth more.
Example: Danny & the Juniors , "At
the Hop" on ABC is worth far less than the same song
on the Singular label.
